by the Afghan intelligence operatives in northern Balkh province of Afghanistan.

(NDS) said the detained individual has been identified as Mirwais who had originally introduced himself as Rahmat.

According to a statement by NDS, Mirwais was actively involved in gathering intelligence information regarding the presence and movement of the Afghan government forces.

The statement further added that Mirwais was captured during an operation in Sherabad area of Dehdadi district by the intelligence operatives.

The Talibs group has not commented regarding the report so far.

The arrest of Mirwais by Afghan intelligence operatives comes as the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) are busy conducting the annual Shafaq military operations across the country.

The security officials said the main purpose of Shafaq annual military operation is to target the top leaders of the Taliban group.
