ISIS attacks buses carrying civilians near Tikrit

(IraqiNews.com) Salahuddin – ISIS today attacked the buses that were carrying displaced persons out from Tikrit. Over 20 mortars were shelled on the buses but nobody was hurt or there was no fatality in the attack.

General Manager of the State Company for Travelers and Delegates Transportation Abdullah Laibi, in a statement issued to the media, said, “Seven buses of the company were attacked by ISIS with over 20 mortar shells. The attack was made when the buses were leaving Tikrit and were carrying the internally displaced persons (IDP) out of the city.”

“Apart from damaging the windshields, the buses received no other damage. No person were also hurt,” Laibi added.

ISIS stops 3,000 from leaving Hawija

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) informed on Friday that according to reports available with them, ISIS detained around 3000 persons who tried to escape to Kirkuk city in Iraq.

As per reports, UNHCR office received reports that ISIS, on August 4, 2016, arrested about 3000 displaced persons while they were trying to flee Hawija to Kirkuk city. Reports further suggest that 12 of them were killed by the outfit.

200 dead found in mass grave in Anbar

(IraqiNews.com) Anbar – An official of al-Hashed al-Shaabi announced on Saturday about the discovery of an ISIS mass grave in Khalidiya Island in Anbar province.

Commander of Imam Ali Division Ahmed al-Fatlawi said, “A mass grave, including around 200 bodies, which are believed to be that of ISIS fighters, was discovered in Khalidiya Island in Anbar province.”

“The graveyard of dead members of the outfit was from previous battles. ISIS buried its dead members in a collective manner,” Fatlawi added.

It may be mentioned here that the army, police and federal police in the past few successfully liberated Khalidiya Island.

Iraqi kops rescue civilians from ISIS control

(IraqiNews.com) Salahuddin – A security source in Salahuddin province informed that a team of the province police successfully rescued three families who fled from Hawija from ISIS control in eastern Tikrit.

Sharing details the source said, “Police forces today clashed with ISIS members at al-Abyad, 40 km northeast of Tikrit. The ISIS members were chasing the families who fled from Hawija district in western Kirkuk while the police had this face-off. In the exchange of fire, two ISIS fighters were killed and they rescued the fleeing families. The families were later transferred to al-Alam in eastern Tikrit.”

85 civilians die in Hawija

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – An official from al-Hashed al-shaabi mitia, Jabbar Maamouri announced on Saturday, that 85 civilians were killed in Hawija district, southwest of Kirkuk.

Mamouri, in a press statement, said, “Intelligence reports indicate that at least 85 civilians were killed in a mass massacre carried out by ISIS in Hawija, southwest of Kirkuk. The dead included women and children,” further adding, “Hundreds of families are being currently held hostage by the outfit.”
