Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos widens grip on Sirte downtown areas
[Libya Observer] The media office of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos said its forces liberated Sunday afternoon the Indian buildings and advanced into neighborhood 2, which was one of the last hideouts of IS hard boyz in Sirte after heavy festivities.Earlier, the office said it foiled an attempt by IS to explode two bomb cars that were heading toward the Misrata-led forces who were advancing to neighborhood 2. "Our forces entered neighborhood 2 and clashed with IS hard boyz with the aid of our forces from the sea frontline, from where they shelled the neighborhood 2 with Grad rockets ...Soviet-developed 122-mm rockets, usually launched from trucks. Newer versions are reported to have a range of up to 30 km.... ." The media office indicated. Sources from the Sirte field hospital reported that 9 fighters were killed from Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos and 74 others were maimed and brought to the hospital due to the neighborhood 2 festivities on Sunday. Two days ago, Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos announced the kick off of the "Macomedes" operation - named after the ancient name of Sirte city ‐ to liberate the last hideouts of IS hard boyz in the city.
