AMISOM Convoy Targeted in Roadside Blast in Afgoye
A remote-controlled bomb hit a vehicle in a troop convoy in the southern Somali agriculture-rich district of Afgoye, police and residents said on Saturday. The Roadside blast hit the AMISOM military convoy as it drove through Hero-Agoonta & high school of Afgoye area in the city late on Saturday, source said.Local Residents who spoke to Radio Shabelle said troops in the convoy cordoned off the area after the bomb went off, and opened fire on pedestrians. “The IED blast in Afgoye today was so powerful and it destroyed one the armored vehicles of AMISOM forces,” a witness who declined to be named said.
