 Iraqi officials dismantle ISIS cell in Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Media officials in the Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday about dismantling a terrorist cell that was intending to target civilians during the holy Hijri month of Moharram, and seizing weapons and adhesive explosive devices with the members of the cell. The officials in a statement, said, “Forces from the Military Intelligence Directorate dismantled a terrorist cell in Baghdad, which was intending to target civilians in the holy Hijri month of Moharram.” “The security forces also seized quantities of weapons and adhesive explosive devices with the members of the cell,” the statement added. It may be mentioned here that Iraq has been witnessing a surge in violence since 2013, while the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) has declared that more than 1,700 Iraqis were either killed or wounded in incidents of violence in different parts of the country only in August.
