Superbug found at Irish nursing home
Concerns were today expressed about an apparent outbreak of the superbug MRSA which was detected at a nursing home in Bangor. The superbug was detected at Carnlea Care Home on the Crawfordsburn Road earlier this week. Local councillor Diana Peacocke branded the outbreak as a "worrying development" and said: "It is my belief that the staff are confident that none of the residents actually contracted MRSA as a direct result of the assistance and care provided at the home. "The residents affected had either recently arrived from hospital or had been receiving treatment."
