Syrian regime forces report attacks against Islamist groups in different parts, claim many killed
[RUDAW.NET] The Syrian army and air force launched attacks against Islamist groups in Deir Ezzor, Daraa and Hama on Saturday, killing "tens of terrorists," wounding many and wiping out Islamic State...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. In Deir Ezzor, "an army unit carried out on Saturday an operation against ISIS terrorists’ gatherings and fortifications in Um Abboud hill, establishing complete control over it after killing dozens of the terrorists," state-run SANA said. The agency also reported festivities with ISIS in two Deir Ezzor neighborhoods in which regime forces inflicted "heavy losses upon the terrorists." "Later, army artillery shells were fired on a gathering of vehicles for ISIS bully boyz in the farms near the Panorama area on the southwestern outskirts of Deir Ezzor city. Five vehicles equipped with machine guns were destroyed and a number of bad boyz were potted as a result of the operation," SANA said. In the southern and eastern countryside of Idlib province, the air force targeted the Jaish al-Fateh Islamist group, "killing a number of its members," SANA said, citing an unidentified source. In the city of Daraa in the south, an army unit targeted the Jabhat al-Nusra ...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli al-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
