Police say protester drones interfere with surveillance operations at DAPL protest site
Authorities say two drones interfered with surveillance operation Sunday morning at a Dakota Access Pipeline protest site.

Police say they encountered two instances of drones flying at helicopters in a threatening manner. A sheriff on board repots [sic] people on board were "in fear of their lives."

Around 11 a.m., a release from the Morton County Sheriff's Office says a drone was flying directly above officers. Police say that's in violation of FCC rules.

Officers then fired less-lethal ammunition at the drone. The release says the drone operator then landed it.

Police say two drone operators have been charged during the protests. Myron Dewey was charged with stalking. Aaron Turgeon has been charged with reckless endangerment, a Class C felony. Police say Turgeon flew a drone at a Highway Patrol plane.
