Coalition forces suffer heavy casualties as they retake Mosul
[FRANCE24] Coalition forces are taking heavy casualties as they progress through djinn-infested Mosul... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn... 's narrow streets. Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allaharound with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not reallyMoslems.... group hard boyz have placed booby traps and boom-mobiles to prevent the soldiers from advancing, as FRANCE 24's Rob Parsons reports. Iraqi coalition forces entered Mosul last week and have tentatively advanced into several of the city’s neighbourhoods with their progress slowed by the Islamic State group’s guerilla tactics. FRANCE 24's chief foreign editor Robert Parsons reports from Erbil, "Up until now they have been fighting across largely open, rural territory, so the progress was much faster. Now that they are getting into Mosul and into urban areas ‐ narrow streets ‐ often fighting against Islamic State group fighters who are protected or hidden behind shields of civilians, it’s very difficult to progress at the same sort of speed that they were able to before.
