during a shootout with law enforcement agencies in the Kanak area of Mastung district, some 60km off here, on Saturday.

According to official sources, personnel of law enforcement and intelligence agencies acted on a tip-off about the presence of armed holy warriors and launched a search operation in the area. The holy warriors opened fire on security forces when they cordoned off the area. The soldiers returned fire.

"Two holy warriors were killed and another arrested in the clash which lasted for more than one hour," security officials said. The arrested suspect was involved in incidents of assassination'>assassination in Quetta and Mastung, they added.

The slain and arrested holy warriors belonged to the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi
... a 'more violent' offshoot of Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistain. LeJ's purpose in life is to murder anyone who's not of utmost religious purity, starting with Shiites but including Brelvis, Ahmadis, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Rosicrucians, and just about anyone else you can think of. They are currently a wholly-owned subsidiary of al-Qaeda ...
, they said.

The arrested suspect was handed over to the authorities concerned for interrogation.
