Man kills niece, nephew in karo-kari incident
 [DAWN] A suspect allegedly shot dead his niece Anila,18, and his nephew Jaffar Lashari,19, over the pretext of honour in Zahid Bambhar village area of Khairpur Mirs district.An official of Pir Wasan police station, while talking to DawnNews, informed that the suspect has been arrested by the police. However, an FIR was not registered with the police till the filing of this report. It is pertinent to mention that FIRs in honour killing cases are registered on behalf of the state after a joint session of the Parliament unanimously approved anti-honour killing and anti-rape bills In July, days after the 'honour' killing of social media celebrity Qandeel Baloch, a committee comprising lawmakers from both the lower and upper houses of parliament unanimously approved two bills aimed at tackling 'honour' killings and boosting rape convictions. The perpetrators of honour killings – in which the victim, normally a woman, is killed by a relative – often walk free because they can seek forgiveness for the crime from another family member.
