AMISOM says foiled attack on its convoy in Somalia
African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has released a statement confirming that its soldiers have thwarted a bomb attack on Burundian peacekeepers in middle Shabelle region on Monday. According to a Twitter post, the AU mission said An IED targeting an AMISOM convoy travelling from Biyo Cadale to Miirtigo was detected and destroyed. No damage or injuries were reported.AMISOM said in a statement posted on it Twitter account that its troops are vigilance and continued collaboration with SNA will eliminate the trauma caused by the Al shabaab and bring peace to Somalia. Al shabaab has said it killed several AMISOM soldiers and destroyed an armored vehicle in a land mine blast planted on a semi-forest road near Mahaday town in southern Somalia, a claim AMISOM denies.
