ISIS Top Dawg has a Very Bad Day in Raqqa
[ARA News] Raqqa – An airstrike by the US-led coalition has killed a top official of the Islamic State (ISIS) and the group’s propaganda chief in Syria’s northeastern Raqqa city, officials said on Friday.

Mahmoud al-Isawi, senior ISIS facilitator and a prominent leader of the jihadist propaganda, was taken out by a US-led coalition airstrike on December 31.

The coalition confirmed al-Isawi’s death in an official statement on Friday, saying the airstrike targeted him in Raqqa–capital of the ISIS self-proclaimed Caliphate.

The longtime ISIS member al-Isawi used to manage instructions and finances for ISIS officials and provided a significant intelligence and propaganda support.

“His death, combined with the recent successive deaths of other ISIL leaders plotting terrorist attacks, has degraded ISIL’s trans-regional attack and facilitation network, and is forcing ISIL to increase their focus on internal security,” the US-led coalition said, using another acronym for ISIS.

“The coalition will continue to track and eliminate ISIL terrorists who plot and conduct attacks against coalition nations and our allies, wherever they are hiding,” it concluded.

The US-led coalition has been striking ISIS positions in Syria and Iraq since summer of 2014. The coalition also backs local ground troops in both countries to liberate territories held by the radical group.
