Top Chechen concerned over the spread of Wahhabism
Chechen First Deputy Prime Minister Ramzan Kadyrov has expressed concern about the pace at which Wahhabism is spreading in Russia. "Wahhabism has firmly taken root in most regions of the North Caucasus and the Volga region," he said in a telephone interview with Interfax on Thursday. Kadyrov is also an adviser to the presidential envoy to the South Federal District on measures aimed at suppressing banditry and religious extremism. "It is no secret that international terrorism has made its nest in Chechnya, but the roots of this pest and Wahhabism run deep in Ingushetia and Dagestan.
