Puntland foils truck bomb attack in Mudug region
An official says Puntland state security forces have seized a truck packed with explosives in Mudug region of central Somalia on Friday. The official told local media that security officers have managed to capture the explosives-laden truck in Beyra village near Galkayo town following a tip-off.
He added the would-be truck bomb attack was orchestrated in central Somalia, pointing the finger of the blame on Al Shabaab, the Al Qaeda-linked militant group based in Somalia.
The major towns in Puntland state have witnessed numerous car bomb attacks and targeted killings against senior officails by Al-Shabaab and pro-ISIL militants in the past few months.
