56-year-old first-time mom delivers twins
A 56-year-old US woman became the oldest American to give birth to twins on Tuesday in New York, also going down in the history books as one of the oldest new mothers in the US. "I feel terrific," Aleta Saint-James — who underwent three years of fertility treatment and had her twins through in vitro fertilisation with donated eggs — gushed at a news conference yesterday at New York's Mount Sinai Hospital. "Holding these children is just the most incredible thing that I've ever done in my life and the best gift God could have given to me," she said. "I was in a good physical condition and my mental energy is very balanced.
