Fourth Bulgarian Unit Ready for Iraq
The last phase in the preparation of Bulgaria's fourth infantry unit to set off for Iraq in about a month was completed, the Defense Ministry announced. Despite some reports of decreased staff to take over the currently patrolling Bulgarian soldiers in Diwaniya, the number of the next unit will be the same - 480 soldiers. It will serve under the commandment of Lieutenant Colonel Dimitar Shivikov from Plovdiv. The preparation of the troops started in the mechanized infantry brigade in the town of Karlovo, south Bulgaria, on September 6. Bulgarian base in Iraq has moved from Karbala's Kilo to Diwaniya's Eko base, within the headquarters of Polish multinational commandment.Posted by: Mark Espinola 2004-11-13 |
