90 insurgents killed as Jaish Al-Islam storms rival Islamist stronghold in rural Damascus

The group claimed responsibility for carrying out the July 2012 Damascus bombing that killed Defense Minister Dawoud Rajiha, Deputy Defense Minister Asef Shawkat, and Assistant Vice President Hassan Turkmani. It was a driving force behind actions in the Damascus region. It cooperated and conducted joint operations with al-Nusra. In Sptember 2013 Saudi Arabia engineered Liwa al-Islam's merger with fifty other more or less Salafist groups as a counterweight to al-Nusra, which the Learned Elders of Islam considered was growing too powereful...
stormed and entered Zamalka to dislodge Failaq al-Rahman (FSA) Lions of Islam from the town, located on the eastern fringes of the Syrian capital.

Utilizing heavy weaponry and tanks, Jaish al-Islam entered the northeastern part of the FSA stronghold and engaged Failaq al-Rahman who subsequently called upon Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) to stiffen their defenses.

With HTS reinforcements flooding into the town, heavy festivities erupted in Zamalka especially in the evening hours.

So far, at least 90 rebel fighters have been killed in the infighting that began last week, 32 of whom were from Jaish al-Islam.
