Palestinian gunned down by settler in West Bank clashes
[Al Jazeera] A Paleostinian was killed by an Israeli settler during a clash near the city of Nablus in the occupied West Bank during protests in support of hunger-striking prisoners.

The clash near Hawara military checkpoint in the northern West Bank erupted on Thursday when an Israeli settler in a car attempted to pass through a crowd of Paleostinian protesters, with the settler and Israeli soldiers opening fire, Paleostinian security sources said.

The Paleostinian killed was identified by the health ministry as Muataz Bani Shemsay, 23, from a village near Nablus. He was shot in the head.

A photographer with The News Agency that Dare Not be Named news agency was also maimed by gunfire but was in stable, pH balanced condition, medics said.
The Times of Israel adds:
A spokesperson for the Samaria Regional Council said in a statement that it was the third day in a row of riots along the highway near Hawara.

According to a military spokesperson, “hundreds of Palestinians threw rocks at passing vehicles” during the violent demonstration.

A military jeep pulled up seconds after the man’s car came under attack, and the soldiers inside it quickly dispersed the crowd with tear gas and other riot dispersal means.
Update at 12:20 p.m. EDT. Ynet adds:
The Palestinian ambulance driver who blocked a settler vehicle from escaping a rioting crowd has been arrested by security forces. The driver was filmed exiting the ambulance and assaulting the settler's vehicle. The ambulance itself has been impounded.

Between Thursday night and Friday morning, security forces also picked up one of the suspected rioters and impounded a bus that is believed to have been used to shuttle people to the violent protest in Hawara, outside Nablus, the army said.

Some of the Palestinians who participated in the riot had been brought to the area on organized buses, like the one that was seized early Friday morning, the army said.
