The action follows the deadly boom-mobile blast that claimed the lives of at least 80 people and maimed over 350 in the Afghan capital on Wednesday morning.

Protesters gathered in Zanbaq Square, where the blast took place, holding anti-government banners and chanting against terrorism. Demonstrators scuffled with security forces as they tried to reach the presidential palace.

Police was heard firing shots in the air and allegedly also tear gas in order to quell the uprising.

The boom-mobile went kaboom! on Wednesday in the Wazir Akbar Khan area of Kabul where a number of embassy buildings are situated.

No group has yet grabbed credit for the attack.
