Protests erupt in Srinagar after Indian troops kill suspected separatists
[DAWN] Anti-India protests and festivities erupted in the main city of Srinagar in India-held Kashmire after three Kashmiri suspected separatists were killed in a shootout with government forces, police said on Wednesday.

According to police, the fighting began overnight after Indian troops raided western Radbugh village following a tip that "militants" were hiding there.

The shootout lasted the whole night and three suspected separatists were killed early Wednesday.

Authorities imposed curfew in the old parts of Srinagar anticipating protests and festivities opposing Indian rule as two of the dear departed were natives of the city.

However,
the way to a man's heart remains through his stomach...
as the news of their killing spread, residents defied the restrictions and pelted stones at police forces.
