Two militants reportedly killed in Gedo fighting
[SHABELLENEWS] Somali military officials say they killed at least two holy warriors in a fierce fighting between Al shabaab and Federal government forces in the country’s southern Gedo region on Wednesday.The officials who spoke to Radio Shabelle on condition of anonymity said the battle erupted after SNA soldiers launched an attack against Al shabaab stronghold near Bardere town. Residents in Daar Maclin, about 30Km away from Bardere, where the festivities took place said the attack began at around 9:00 a.m. local time, sparking a deadly shootout between the sides. There was no immediate confirmation of the casualties on the Somali army, but, the holy warriors deny claims of losing two combatants in the skirmish occurred in the outskirts of Bardere city. The situation in the area has returned to normal, however, reports indicated that there is still a military movement by the warring sides, which could ignite potential festivities.
