Arsal, Lebanon: Hezbollah close to expelling Jabhat Fateh al-Sham
 [Al Jazeera] The Lebanese group Hezbollah says it is close to driving out Jabhat Fateh al-Sham...formerly al-Nusra, the current false nose and mustache of al-Qaeda in the Levant... fighters from the Syria-Leb frontier. Jabhat Fateh al-Sham is the former Syrian branch of al-Qaeda that was previously known as al-Nusra ...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli al-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ... Front. Since Friday, Hezbollah and the Syrian army have been fighting against the group in the Juroud Arsal mountainous border area. If successful, the offensive would cement Hezbollah's control over the final section of Syrian border that is still vulnerable to infiltration from rival gangs. Hezbollah, Lebanese Army overwhelm jihadists near Syrian border [AlMasdar] The Lebanese Army and Hezbollah resumed their offensive operations in eastern Lebanon this morning, striking the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and the so-called “Islamic State” (ISIL) inside the ‘Arsal Barrens. Backed by the Syrian Air Force, the Lebanese Army and Hezbollah attacked the last remaining sites under jihadist control in the ‘Arsal Barrens, inflicting heavy damage on the defenses of HTS and ISIL. According to Hezbollah’s official media wing, their forces and the Lebanese Army have captured the following sites: Wadi Hamoudi Al-Baydar Sha’bat Nahlah Wadi Dhalil Al-Barak Wadi Kamil Mak’abat Al-Faran Advertisement The Lebanese Army and Hezbollah are now attempting to take control of the last sites under jihadist control near the Syrian border-crossing.
