Child jockeys still being smuggled to UAE
Children continue to be trafficked from Pakistan to be used as camel-jockeys in the UAE. The use of children as jockeys in camel racing is highly dangerous and can result in serious injury and even death, disclosed the Center for Research and Social Development (CRSD) on the occasion of International Children's Day. The CRSD recently completed a comprehensive research study on child trafficking entitled "Child trafficking for camel races: a perspective from Pakistan" which highlights this heinous crime in the name of sports. The CRSD has urged the governments of Pakistan and the UAE to take action to stop the inhuman practice. The barbaric practice of using little children as jockeys in camel races has been going on as usual, even after announcing internationally ban on the use of children below the age of 15 years.
