Ahrar Al-Sham fighters defect to another Islamist group in East Ghouta: report
[AlMasdar] A group of fighters from Harakat Ahrar al-Sham...a Syria jihadi group made up of Islamists and salafists, not that there's that much difference, formed into a brigade. They make up the main element of the Islamic Front but they don't profess adoration of al-Qaeda and they've been fighting (mainly for survival) against the Islamic State. Their leadership was wiped out at a single blow by a suicide kaboom at a crowded basement meeting in September, 2014... have defected to another Islamist faction in the East Ghouta region of Damascus, local opposition activists reported on social media today. The members of Ahrar al-Sham allegedly defected to Faylaq al-Rahman, a group that is allied with Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham in the East Ghouta. The opposition activists claimed that the Ahrar al-Sham defectors belonged to an anti-armored regiment that was stationed in the town of Irbeen.
