Iraqi airstrikes smokes 10 ISIS Bad Guys

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Ten Islamic State militants were killed in an airstrike in western Anbar, a security source from the province was quoted saying.

Speaking to AlSumaria News, the source said, “U.S.-led coalition launched an airstrike targeting IS rest house in Rawa city, west of Ramadi city,” the source told AlSumaria News.

“The airstrike destroyed the rest house and left 10 militants, who were inside, killed,” according to the source, who preferred anonymity.

In related news, Iraqi air force dropped hundreds of thousands of messages on western Anbar regions as well as southwest of Kirkuk.

A statement by the Defense Ministry’s War Media Cell said on Monday that “jets dropped hundreds of thousands of leaflets after midnight on Hawija as well as Qaim, Rawa, Annah and Okashat regions. They included news on victories by troops as well as IS defeats and threatened IS militants that they either have to surrender or die.”

On Sunday, Jazeera Operations Command said five militants were killed while trying to infilitrate from Houran region into al-Baghdadi town in western Anbar.

Fighter jets from the Iraqi army and the international coalition regularly pound IS locations in the province.

Anbar’s western towns of Anah, Qaim and Rawa are still held by the extremist group since 2014, when it occupied one third of Iraq to proclaim a self-styled Islamic Caliphate. Iraqi troops were able to return life back to normal in the biggest cities of Anbar including Fallujah, Ramadi and others after recapturing them.

In late July, a military source was quoted saying that Lt.Gen Abdul-Amir Yarallah, commander of the Nineveh Operations, ordered to besiege IS havens in western Anbar preparing to invade them.
