and his severed body and head were found later this week in Upper Mahayahay, Maluso, Basilan province.

Joint Task Force Basilan commander Col. Juvymax Uy said the severed body and head of retired master sergeant Julio Pasawa were found last Tuesday at around 8 a.m. in his burnt house in Upper Mahayahay, Maluso town.

Pasawa, 63, a Moslem convert who hails from Pangasinan but chose to live in Maluso, Basilan, was seized before the Lions of Islam attacked barangay (village) Tubigan, also in Maluso on Tuesday killing at least nine people and wounding 11 others.

Armed Forces of the Philippines, Western Mindanao Command (AFP-WestMinCom) front man Capt. Jo-Ann Petinglay said an undetermined number of fully armed bandidos swooped down on the village and fired their guns and burned some houses including a multipurpose hall.

Soldiers of the Joint Task Force Basilan are currently on pursuit operation against ASG members who attacked Barangay Tubigan, Maluso, Basilan Province before dawnbreak Friday.

Around 20 armed Abu Sayyaf bandidos attacked the village of Tubigan in Malusu town, Basilan about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Barangay peace-keeping action teams and civilian volunteers who were initially surprised by the attack, scampered to get their guns and fight the attackers.
