5 wounded in bombing in al-Furat districtBaghdad (IraqiNews.com) Five civilians were wounded in an IED blast in western Baghdad, a security source was quoted saying on Sunday. “A bomb, placed near stores in al-Furat district, west of Baghdad, exploded on Sunday, leaving five civilians wounded,” the source told Alghad Press. “Security troops cordoned off the blast spot, while ambulances transferred the victims to nearby hospital,” the source added. Violence in the country has surged further with the emergence of Islamic State Sunni extremist militants who proclaimed an “Islamic Caliphate” in Iraq and Syria in 2014.
