The provincial government media office in a statement confirmed the clash and said at least eight hard boyz were killed and five others were maimed during the festivities.

The statement further added that a key leader of the Taliban group identified as Janat Gul was among those maimed.

Janat Gul is a prominent Taliban leader who was involved in various terrorist related activities including roadside kaboomings, execution of the civilians, and major attacks in this province, the statement added.

According to the provincial government, at least one Afghan policeman also lost his life and three others were maimed during the festivities.
