Chopped-nose threat issued for Hindu girls dating Muslims
 Hindu girls who went out with Moslem boys would have their noses chopped off, a rightwing Hindu group warned, according to a news report on Friday. The diktat was issued in a letter sent out by the rightwing Hindu Bajrang Dal to its cadre in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, which has the largest Moslem population in the country. At first, Dal members would attempt to dissuade Hindu girls from dating Muslims. But if The warning said nothing about Hindu boys going out with Moslem girls. The group said the step was necessary to prevent marriages between the two groups, according to a report in the Hindustan Times. In the past the Bajrang Dal has protested, often violently, against Valentine's Day celebrations and college-going girls wearing jeans, both of which it said symbolized "the onslaught of immoral western culture".
