Clashes at Terror Raids
Angry crowds greeted police in Manchester when they raided three homes under anti-terror laws. Forensic searches of the properties were made following the arrest of a man on Monday. Residents say they are being picked on because they are Muslims. Officers clashed with local people angry that they were taking away an elderly woman in a wheelchair. Residents said they were not being told what was happening. No further arrests were thought to have resulted. Officers raided two addresses in Great Western Street, Rusholme, and a third property nearby. The spokesman said: "As a consequence of an arrest of a man in Manchester, a number of addresses have been searched under the Terrorism Act 2000. "Police investigations are ongoing."
