Spain arrests three suspects linked to ETA leader
French police have arrested three people linked to the suspected chief of Spain's armed Basque separatist group ETA, police sources said. One of the three was the brother of a man who harboured the suspected ETA leader, Mikel "Antza" Albizu Iriarte, and his girlfriend, Soledad "Anboto" Iparagirre Genetxea, before their arrest 3 October, while the other two were a couple who looked after the ETA suspects' young son for three years, they said. Spanish and French officials have said that the arrest of Albizu Iriarte and Iparagirre Genetxea decapitated ETA, which has been blamed for the deaths of more than 800 people in its three-decade campaign for an independent Basque homeland.
