Russian Long Range Aviation continues to pound targets in Deir Ezzor
The Russian military says six of its Tupolev Tu-22M3 long-range bombers have once again successfully launched airstrikes against positions of the ISIL Takfiri terrorist group in Syria’s eastern province of Deir Ezzor as government forces, supported by allied fighters from popular defense groups, are fighting to totally retake the region from the terrorists.According to a statement by the Russian Defense Ministry, the large bombers, which flew from an airfield in Russia, hit “terrorist strongholds” in the valley of the Euphrates River in the volatile province. The airstrikes came a day after a similar attack the Russian bombers carried out in the same province against ISIL’s fortified areas, manpower and armored vehicles near Abbas town, which lies northwest of the recently-liberated Bukamal town and near the border with Iraq.
