5 prisoners hanged to death in Kabul prison over kidnapping
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] At least five prisoners who were sentenced to death over kidnapping charges were hanged to death in Kabul prison today.The Ministry of Interior officials confirmed that the five convicts were hanged to death in Pul-e-Charkhi prison of Kabul earlier today. The officials further added that the men were sentenced to death by all courts after they were found guilty of kidnapping in western Herat ...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns... province of Afghanistan. The directorate overlooking the prisons and detention centers in the ministry of interior issued a statement today confirming the execution of the five prisoners. The statement further added that the men were hanged to death earlier this morning after their death pentalty orders were approved by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani  ...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..The directorate also added that the men were also found guilty of murder besides committing kidnappings in western Herat province of Afghanistan.
