Taliban militants suffer heavy casualties in Nangahrar night raid
[Khaama] The Taliban...the Pashtun equivalent of men... gunnies have suffered heavy casualties during a special night operation conducted in eastern Nangarhar The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country.. province of Afghanistan. According to a statement released by the governor’s office in Nangarhar, the operation was conducted late on Wednesday night in Khogyani district. The statement further added that the Special Forces of the Afghan Intelligence (National Directorate of Security ...the Afghan national intel agency... ) carried out raids on two compounds of the Taliban in Surdag area. At least twenty Taliban gunnies including four of their commanders were killed during the operation, the statement added. The provincial government also added that the Taliban Überstürmbannführers killed during the operation have been identified as Qari Hedayatullah who was also famous as Mudasir, Qari Khalid and Ismail. The Afghan cops also detained fourteen suspects during the operation and are currently in jug of the intelligence operatives for further investigations. The statement by Nangarhar’s office also added that three vehicles, four cycle of violences, seven landmines, twelve remote controls, and some explosives were also destroyed during the operation.
