Former Uzbek Moslem - wed at 10 - no sympathy from Feminists - her story
My name is Fatima and I'm an ex-Muslim woman.I was born into a fanatic Muslim family in Uzbekistan...I was married off to a Muslim man. I was 10 and he was a 60-year-old brute. He promised my stepmothers that he would not sleep with me until I reached the age of puberty. But he came to my room soon after our marriage took place...I decided to find a newly-established feminist organization as I hoped they would listen to my story and help me. Of course they couldn't help me as they were too busy celebrating someone's birthday...I'm trying to forget my past. However it's really hard to do as my husband managed to nearly ruin my life. I will never have children because of premature sex. I have never had boyfriends because I'm afraid to be touched by men in a 'romantic' way. I'm working with a psychologist to get over this complex.
