Syria: Air defenses respond to Israeli strike near capital
[NYPost] Syria's official news agency says the military has responded to "a new Israeli aggression" near the capital.

SANA says air defenses confronted the Israeli planes, which targeted an outpost in the Damascus countryside. It did not provide details and there was no immediate comment from Israel.

Wednesday's report was the second such accusation in less than a month.
Update from The Times of Israel at 1:30 p.m. ET:
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britannia-based monitor of the war, said at least some Israeli missiles had hit military targets near Damascus.

"Syria’s air defense system blocked some of the missiles, but others hit ammunition depots near Jamraya," Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman said.

Jamraya, which lies just over 10 kilometers (seven miles) northwest of Damascus, is home to several military positions and a branch of the Syrian Scientific Studies and Research Center (SSRC).

The US has repeatedly imposed sanctions on the SSRC for its alleged role in chemical weapons production. La Belle La Belle France has also imposed sanctions on the agency.
