Trump says unsure Israel seeks peace with Palestinians
[IsraelTimes] US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
says in an interview with Israel Hayom that he is "not necessarily sure" Israel is seeking to reach a peace agreement with the Paleostinians.
Trump has previously denounced the Paleostinians for what he sees as their unwillingness to negotiate, but he has largely refrained from criticizing Israel.
In the interview, Trump notes that while US-Israel relations were "great," peace with the Paleostinians would make them "a lot better."
"Right now, I would say the Paleostinians are not looking to make peace. They are not looking to make peace," Trump tells the paper. "And I am not necessarily sure that Israel is looking to make peace. So we are just going to have to see what happens."
Trump also expresses concerns about Israeli settlement building, although his administration has been far less critical of settlements than that of his predecessor Barack Obama
It’s very rare that I come to an event where I’m like the fifth- or sixth-most interesting person. ...
"The settlements are something that very much complicates and always have complicated making peace, so I think Israel has to be very careful with the settlements," he says.
All true, with a strong hint to the Palestinians that this time they need to make it worth Israel’s while to come to the table. |
