Somalia blasts death toll at 45, AMISOM explains clash with gov't troops
[AFRICANEWS] Somali authorities are investigating circumstances in which a clash between African Union...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful... mission troops (AMISOM) clashed with Somali intelligence officers manning a checkpoint in Mogadishu on the same evening of the al-shabaab attack. Media reports indicate that the AMISOM troops fired on the Somali troops manning the checkpoint after the latter sought to implement a temporary lockdown that made it mandatory for all vehicles entering the airport to be verified. The African Union Mission in Somalia tweeted on Sunday morning condemning the Al-Shabaab ...  Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...attack, while at the same time commending the heroic actions of the Somali forces and AMISOM troops that repelled the attack.
