Egypt's Sohag court sentences 35 Brotherhood members to life on terrorism charges
[AlAhram] Upper Egypt's criminal court of Sohag on Wednesday sentenced 35 members of the banned Moslem Brüderbund group to life in prison on charges of weapons possession in Sohag.In the same case, the court also convicted 155 others, handing down various sentences ranging between three and 15 years in prison. The sentences can still be appealed. The weapons were uncovered in 2015 after the interior ministry’s national-security investigations department in Sohag received information about a group hiding in a cave in the governorate's western mountains. According to the court, 61 defendants received 15 years in prison, 62 received 10 years, 26 others received five years in prison and six members received three years in prison.
