IRS Extends Initial Tax Filing Deadline To Today, 4/18/18
They had little choice - the IRS' Modern E-file (Mef) was down / slow as hell for half of yesterday and I read about two IRS payment / extension filing systems being offline for most of the day. Some states may or may not follow this lead - in MA, there's no notice of extending this deadline for another day, so check your state's tax department if you're in this situation.[Intuit] - The IRS recently announced taxpayers will be provided an additional day to file and pay their taxes, following system issues that surfaced earlier today.
