Pussy cat (called Kofi) terrorises entire suburb
DESPITE being named after UN Secretary General and Nobel peace prize laureate Kofi Annan, Kofi the Bengal cat is far from a pacifist, and has left a whole London suburb in fear. The feline with a feral attitude stands accused of traumatising the area's pets and their owners, and is even suspected of 'murdering' a four-legged neighbour. "He's a bastard - the Rottweiler of the cat world," Brian Coombes, who started an action group to rid the streets of the prowling terror, told London's Evening Standard. Jerry Corda-Stanley claims his Seeko was killed by Kofi. After disappearing, the cat returned "blinded" and with her face "ripped up". "She'd been left for dead and had to be put down. It was very sad," he mourned. Kofi has reportedly mauled rats, birds and squirrels, and is even said to have chased off foxes in the area where he lives. He has been blamed for nervous breakdowns, countless visits to the vet and supicious disappearances, including black and white Vinny, named after former footballer and cinema hardman Vinny Jones. Owners Chris and Caroline Hykiel argue their pussy is just like all others, getting into catfights but no killer. "Kofi is not a vicious beast," they said. "Yes, he gets in fights - but so do all cats. He comes off second best sometimes." "We listened to neighbours and tried sedatives and a special diet but that did not make any difference," Chirs Hykiel added. Five-year-old Kofi comes off with a slight advantage compared to other cats, since he is a bit larger. Bengals are a large-boned crossbreed of the common cat and the Asian leopard cat, a small- to medium-sized wild cat found in South and East Asia and often hunted for its beautiful spotted fur.
