Drone linked with grenade attack in Thai south
[Bangkok Post] A drone has been impounded from a civilian’s home in Yala province after it was believed to be linked with a grenade attack at a security post on Tuesday.

The unmanned aerial vehicle was confiscated from the house in Yaha district on Thursday afternoon. Authorities also found Koreeya Sadeeyamu inside the house. She was taken to the district police station for questioning. Flight data will be retrieved from the drone to determine whether it is connected with the attack and the house owner will be questioned.

The confiscation came after two M79 grenades were fired at a security post in Yaha district early Tuesday morning, wounding two military rangers on duty.

An unidentified group of people fired the grenades at the post, causing blasts that sent shrapnel flying, injuring the rangers. Mai Mana, who was stationed with three other rangers near the post, said he and the other rangers had spotted a drone being flown around the post at about 3am. It flew off when they pointed a flashlight at it, he said.

It was believed the drone was flying reconnaissance for the attack.
