Iraqi troops kill two Islamic State militants in Iraq’s DiyalaDiyala (Iraqinews.com) – Iraqi army, backed by paramilitary troops, killed on Thursday two Islamic State (IS) militants and injured four others in Diyala’s Jalawla. “A force from the 74th division of the Iraqi army killed early today two elements of Islamic State and injured four others at Um al-Hanta village in Jalawla, northeast of Diyala,” Baghdad Today quoted the media service of al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) as saying in a statement. The statement did not provide further details about how the militants were killed or injured. The province has seen months of fighting between Iraqi troops and IS militants especially in the Jalawla and Saadiyah areas in the province’s north and areas near the town of Muqdadiyah. 2 civilians, 4 Islamic State members killed in attack, northeast of Diyala Diyala (IraqiNews.com) Six people were killed, including Islamic State members, in an attack launched by the militant group, northeast of Baquba, the Security Media Center said on Thursday. In a statement, Brig. Gen. Yahia Rasool, spokesperson for the center, “the military intelligence managed to foil an attempt by the militants against a village in Jalawla region, Diyala province.” The militants, according to Rasool “were trying to kill some militants in the region.” However, “the troops managed to kill three militants, while the fourth blew up himself, which resulted in killing two civilians.” Islamic State continues to launch sporadic attacks across Iraq against troops.
