‘The worst devastation I’ve seen’ -- Angelina Jolie visits Mosul on Eid
[ALMASDARNEWS] American actress and UN Refugee Agency Special Envoy visited West Mosul on Saturday, less than a year after the city’s liberation following years of self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL).Jolie walked though the ruined buildings and streets in the Old City, meeting with displaced families as they try to piece their lives back together. “This is the worst devastation I have seen in all my years with UNHCR,” Jolie said. “Yet they are so happy because the last Eid they were under occupation and suffering and this Eid they have nothing, but they are free.” Posted by: Fred 2018-06-17 |
