Abu Sayyaf rebel killed in Sulu clash
 A suspected Abu Sayyaf militant was killed in a clash with Philippine security forces in Patikul, Sulu on Saturday evening. The suspect, whose name was not available, was killed in a pursuit operation in Barangay Pang-layahan.The encounter began after 3pm between troops and some 40 rebels led by Hajaan Sawadjaan, according to Brig. Gen. Divino Rey Pabayo, chief of the Joint Task Force Sulu. The initial clash lasted 35 minutes after the rebels retreated into the hinterlands. No casualties were reported among the soldiers.
