JI workers’ clash leaves one dead in Mohmand
 [DAWN] GHALANAI: One person was killed and three others were maimed as participants of a Jamaat-e-Islami... The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independentbranch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores... rally pelted stones at one another while returning from a party gathering in Soran Dara area of Baizai tehsil of Mohmand on Wednesday. Local residents said Malik Rehman Gul and Ghafoor Khan, the JI activists, brawled with each other after a party’s corner meeting. Afterwards the supporters of the two leaders started pelting stones at one another. In the melee, one Araf Shah was killed while three others, including Rehman Gul, Gulistan Khan and Ghafoor Khan, received injuries. The injured were shifted to a hospital in Bajaur. After the incident, officials of the local administration rushed to the spot, jugged Into the paddy wagon wit' yez! one Zewar Khan and shifted him to the Ghalanai lockup for investigation.
