Australian court lifts suppression on identity of Adelaide student accused of supporting ISIS
[EN.ABNA24] A suppression order on the identity of a South Australian student charged with being a member of self-proclaimed Islamic State has now been revoked by the Supreme Court.23-year-old Zainab Abdirahman-Khalif is charged with knowingly being a member of a terrorist organisation. The woman was arrested by Australian Federal Police in May last year after allegedly trying to fly to Turkey on a one-way ticket. She allegedly pledged her allegiance to ISIS after communicating with extremists online who were involved in terrorist attacks in Kenya. The prosecution alleges the woman had been repeating oaths and singing songs connected to ISIS in her bedroom. Her lawyer previously tried to have the charge dismissed, but the court found there was a case to answer. Ms Abdiraham-Khalif pleaded not guilty to the charge.
