At least 10 killed in attack on Afghan govt office
[DAWN] Gunmen stormed an education department compound in Afghanistan's restive east on Wednesday in an attack that left at least ten people dead, officials said.

provincial governor front man Attaullah Khogyani told AFP.
The sound of gunfire followed by a "big kaboom" that shattered windows alerted Qari Samiullah that an attack was under way near his shop.
"I left my shop and ran when I heard a second kaboom," Samiullah told AFP.
"Smoke came out of the building and all the people started to run away." A security guard employed by the education department branch was among the dead, Khogyani said.
Jalalabad health director Najibullah Kamawal confirmed five maimed people had been brought to hospital so far.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the raid.
