Blaze at Saudi jail
Four inmates suffered smoke inhalation after an overnight blaze at a top-security jail in Saudi Arabia, security officials said yesterday. | That's one way to deal with some unwanted pests. |
The fire at the Al Hail facility, in which a number of Al Qaeda terrorists are incarcerated, is the third such incident in 18 months and was probably started by inmates, officials said. The blaze was brought under control by firefighters. | Wonder if anyone stopped them like at that girls' school a while back. |
Security had been stepped up at the prison, located south of the Saudi capital Riyadh, to thwart "possible planned unrest". Three inmates were injured in a fire at the prison in April of this year, while 68 people were officially reported killed in a September 2003 inferno during which a significant number of prisoners are alleged to have escaped. | Nice to see that the prison security in the Magic Kingdom works as well as everything else there. |
